Not in the usual sense. Curl type (1A–4C) describes how hair looks. CrownPrint focuses on how hair behaves and what it may need right now, using curl pattern and texture as context rather than as a verdict.

Five foundational characteristics — porosity behavior, density, strand thickness, elasticity and scalp profile — plus your current style, scalp state, concerns, goals, heat exposure, relevant treatment history, your climate and water context, your own Crown Scan observations, and your texture and pattern by area. These are self-reported behavioral signals, not laboratory measurements.

Porosity describes how your hair fiber interacts with and moves water — how readily moisture enters and leaves the strand — shaped by the condition of the cuticle and fiber. It is a behavior of the hair, not the same thing as curl pattern.

Through several everyday signals (how your hair wets and dries, how it responds to water-based products, and relevant history) rather than a single at-home test. CrownPrint does not rely on the float test as a validated measurement method, and results are phrased as 'most consistent with lower/intermediate/higher-porosity behavior.'

Porosity-related behavior can vary with weathering, chemical processing, heat and everyday manipulation, and different parts of the same head of hair can behave differently — so your ends may differ from newer growth.
