Find Your CrownPrint™
A science-based hair profile built exclusively for African American hair. Five axes, one code — the way your hair actually behaves.
Forget the 1A–4C chart. CrownPrint™ measures how your hair responds — from how it absorbs moisture to how your scalp behaves — so your routine can be built on biology, not guesswork.
P
Porosity
Porosity describes how readily your hair cuticle absorbs and releases water. It's shaped by the structure of your cuticle scales — whether they lie tightly flat, sit in a balanced middle, or stay raised. Porosity decides which products absorb, which sit on top, and how often your hair needs re-moisturizing.
D
Density
Density is the number of hair strands per square inch of scalp. It's independent of how thick each individual strand is. Density shapes how much product your hair needs, how long wash day takes, and how your styles sit on your crown.
T
Strand Thickness
Strand thickness is the diameter of a single hair — fine, medium, or coarse. It's different from density. Thickness determines how much moisture a strand can hold, how it responds to heat, and whether it feels weighed down by rich butters or unchanged by lightweight ones.
S
Scalp Type
Your scalp is living skin, and it sets the foundation for healthy hair. Scalp type describes your sebum production, sensitivity, and how your scalp responds to products and wash cycles. It's a critical axis because even perfect strand care cannot compensate for an unhappy scalp.
E
Elasticity
Elasticity measures how well your hair stretches and bounces back without breaking. It's shaped by your protein-moisture balance and the integrity of your cortex. Elasticity predicts breakage risk, tells you how your hair will handle manipulation, and signals when a protein or moisture treatment is overdue.
